Dental Implants in Dartmouth

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent replacement for missing teeth. They provide a lifelong foundation for replacement crowns or dentures, and they also help prevent bone loss that can result when a tooth is lost.

How Implants Work

Dental implants look like small wood screws. They are surgically implanted into your jawbone, where they become integrated with your natural bone tissue. The implants are made from bio-compatible titanium and they are designed to form a strong bond with the surrounding bone. Once the implant has been placed and has integrated, an abutment is placed on the implant and a crown or denture can be affixed to it.

Mini Implants

In some cases we use mini implants. These implants require less preparation than regular dental implants. They are commonly used to support implant supported bridges and dentures.

Benefits of Implants

Because they form a permanent bond with your bone, implants can last a lifetime. The attached crown or denture may need to be replaced periodically as they wear out. Implants also work to strengthen the surrounding bone tissue, which helps preserve and strengthen your jawbones.
